¡Viva La Fiesta!

August 10, 2016

It’s that time of the year when we get to celebrate the heck out of this lovely town called Santa Barbara for an entire 5 days. The time when we’re suppose to appreciate the city’s heritage from Spanish founders and the tradition of colorful music, dance, and song together with a spirit of friendliness BUT let’s face it, everyone’s mostly excited to get have an excuse to drink all day with flowers and confetti in their hair while stuffing their faces with the best Mexican food available to us.

For Lupo and I, Fiestas has become mostly our time to look forward to pigging out and going to the less tourist invasive places. We try to stray away from the heart of State Street where the cover charge to get into “shitty kitty” or the infamous Tonic is $40. I must say though, if you’re in town during Fiesta, I would recommend checking out the parades because they are really fun and not like anything else any town (at least LA) offers. If you’re a foodie like us, then definitely head over to the east side of SB to the Guadalupe church. You won’t have to wait until Christmas time to have mouthwatering tamales.
