Travel Diary: Solvang

March 17, 2017

Bubby took me on a surprise getaway this past weekend to the cutest little Danish town called Solvang. Solvang is Danish for ‘Sunny Field’ and only about 30 minutes headed North from Santa Barbara. It was a little much-needed ‘staycation’. It’s so fun to travel to places that are nothing like you’ve ever seen before. Solvang is such a quaint and perfect little town. I felt like we were on set of a movie scene the entire time.

We stayed at Hotel Corque which was a beautiful, trendy yet luxurious hotel.  The first night we went to eat at this lovely restaurant attached to our hotel called Root 246 where we ordered some tasty appetizers, dinner and cocktails.

The next day, we began our adventure by eating at this cute little cafe called succulent cafe. The decor was so nice and it was the perfect day to sit out in the patio and enjoy a cheese plate +wine. After that we did some sight seeing. Since Solvang is quite small, it didn’t take long before we let the reallll fun begin and we started wine tasting!

Solvang is known not only for their bakeries but also their wine tasting and you know I’m a BIG fan of that! We visited a few wineries, including Lucky Dog, Casa Cassara and Dascomb Cellars. The last one had to be my favorite because they paired their wines with cheeses! YUMMM.

After wine tasting, we did some beer tasting at The Backroom and Barrel Works and then ended up ordering some pizza at Industrial eats. Everything about this day was perfection.

Before heading home on Sunday, we ended our trip by eating at Bacon Brine where we had the best kimchi burger and a caramelized bacon donut. Yup, BACON DONUT. It was soooooo good.

It was a short & sweet stay and I can’t wait to go back! We definitely recommend this destination if you’re looking for a relaxing day filled with history, yummy treats and day drinking.

What is your favorite place for a getaway?

xx,
Itzy
