Today I’m talking turtle necks. I used to avoid turtle neck at all costs because I thought they were unflattering especially with my round face. However, this past Fall/Winter, I’ve really learned to embrace them and they have become on of my favorite fashion staples in my wardrobe. They honestly go with everything and I’ve laid out a few ways to style them that will really make for a comfy yet chic outfit.
When shopping for turtlenecks I try to get neutral colors that you can wear with different type of outfits. I usually lasso get them light weight so they can be layered or tucked. This also helps in transitioning into Spring because you can still use them for a night look.
For this first look, I wanted to dress up my knit and make it more of a going out look. I styled a forest green turtle neck with white flared trousers. The pants had a nice zipper detail which went nicely since I tucked in the knit into them. Since my turtleneck was already a dark color, I decided that pairing them with white would really make it stand out. I kept my accessories black to neutralize and blend with the sweater nicely. I really wanted this look to be minimal because I think a turtle neck already is the highlight of your outfit so I paired it with black sunnies, black strappy heels and a small bracelet purse that was also black. I threw on a black leather jacket to edge it up.
For this second look, I wanted to go for something more laid back and street-styled. On a day that’s not as cold, I can easily tuck a turtle neck into my favorite skirt and pair it with some sneakers. Again, kept the colors neutral and minimal to really call attention to the turtle neck. This turtle neck in particular has sleeve details which adds a flirty detail. I love contrasting girly pieces with edgy shoes or sneakers, so I decided to go with my platform Vans. The green scrunched skirt also had a thick belt which really defined the sweater and made it look less slouchy while still looking effortless. I paired it with my Closet Access Backpack to keep the casual look up and it was the perfect detail.
